About the artist
Janie Preece is an artist working from her studio in Burnham Market, King's Lynn, UK. She paints primarily in watercolour, pen and wash and soft pastel and likes to paint 'en plein air' when possible.
Her subjects are varied, including the wonderful big open North Norfolk landscapes with their iconic harbours, muddy creeks and open skies as well as landscapes from her travels in Ireland and further afield.
Janie's style is semi-impressionistic; she strives to capture the essential atmosphere of the scene rather than the precise details and tries to suit the medium to the subject.
She draws her inspiration from those artists she admires, such as the great Edward Wesson, John Blockley and Norma Stephenson and has studied with John Hoar, Steve Hall, John Tookey and Tony Allain.
